Symbiosis? (2006)

Developing a metaphoric association between the function of pipes and trees is the central formal and conceptual consideration of Symbiosis?. Copper pipe is arranged to form a ‘landscape’, a schematic mimicking the pipe systems within a house or a city. From these pipes, ‘trees’ in the form of poplar suckers emerge to create a part natural, part artificial hybrid, emphasising that water is a resource shared between society and nature. When developing such works I seek to emphasise relationships and highlight connections to create scenarios that explore society's inseprability from nature.
